In this mail, we will explain to you which steps are necessary to facilitate your start into your studies and to register for events. In addition, we would like to provide you with further helpful information for your start at the University.

1. Activate your UniAccount
Your first step is to activate your university account via MyAccount You need this account for your study organisation and also for our learning platforms. We have created a Tutorial for you on how to activate your account.
In the course of the day, you will receive the access data for your new UniAccount, which replaces any existing application account, with another e-mail. If you do not receive this UniAccount notification, please follow our instructions (in German).
IMPORTANT: You will automatically receive a university e-mail address, which you will use to receive important messages from the central university systems. This e-mail address is mandatory and will be the only e-mail address used for correspondence in connection with your studies at the University of Freiburg, e.g. for invitations to introductory events and notifications from central systems such as HISinOne or the learning platform in direct connection with your courses. It is therefore extremely important and essential that you check this e-mail address regularly. You can find all information on this at https://www.rz.uni-freiburg.de/en/services/uniaccount-en/email/email-en.
The Campus Management Portal HISinOne already accompanied you during your application and enrolment process. From now on, the portal serves for your course enrolment, exam registrations, semester re-registration, downloading certificates and many other steps during your studies. Log in with your activated UniAccount in the Campus Management System HISinOne and use Planner of Studies to display the courses and exams of your degree program. If you have any questions about HISinOne, please read our Wiki guide (in HISinOne under the tab "Help").
You will receive your UniCard approximately 1 - 3 weeks after this email to the postal address you provided upon enrolment (if the address is in Germany). If the address you provided upon enrolment is abroad, the UniCard will not be sent to you, but can be picked up in person at the Service Center Studium at Sedanstr. 6, approximately 14 days after receiving this email. At the start of your studies, there are information events for new students, which your degree programme will inform you about. Use the free app "myUFR" to put together your individual programme of programme-specific and interdisciplinary events for the introductory week, go through the checklist for the start of your studies and find your way around with interactive maps. After the start of your studies, the app is also a helpful companion for your studies with many events related to your studies, the daily cafeteria menus, contact persons and lots of information. You can download the app from App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

In keeping with tradition, the University of Freiburg will once again be welcoming first-semester students to the Europa-Park stadium of SC Freiburg this year.
The Welcome Day will take place on Friday, October 10. In addition to the new students, families and friends as well as students from higher semesters are cordially invited. All additional information can be found on our website.
We cordially invite all international students to the Welcome Day. It usually takes place one week before the start of lectures and requires prior registration. All information, the exact date and the registration link can be found on our website.
At the beginning, many things come at once, which must be planned, organized and found. We have compiled further important information and helpful tips for you here.
Finally, we would like to provide you with some important information about student administration and counselling.
Counselling
- For all questions regarding your student status (re-registration, change of major, fees, deregistration, etc.) and for all questions and concerns regarding your studies (information and counselling regarding organisation, doubts, strategy, etc.), please contact the Service Center Studium.
- If you have any questions about courses, curricula, and content, please contact your programme coordinator. You can find the contact details in the "myUFR" app under "contact persons" if you have selected your degree programme in your profile.
- In order to continue studying after the first semester, you must re-register for next semester. Remember to re-register for each semester within the re-registration deadline to avoid a late fee and extra work.
